Director of Investment Research | CFA
Elliot is Director of Investment Research at Lipman Burgon, where he owns the firm’s research agenda, investment philosophy, expected returns framework and asset allocation proposals.
That mandate extends to the evolution of the firm’s portfolio construction approach, focused on explicit objectives, risk budgeting, and diversification across public and private markets.
Elliot has been central to the firm’s shift towards endowment-style portfolios with greater use of private markets and increased emphasis on factor awareness and implementation discipline. He is responsible for fund manager relationships, the sourcing and evaluation of investment opportunities, and adviser and client investment education across our investment approach.
Elliot’s deep experience in manager research spans almost all asset classes, including public and private markets, with a focus on separating investment skill from returns explained by market exposures or implementation effects.
Prior to joining Lipman Burgon, Elliot was a Senior Manager Research Analyst at Lonsec, where he covered global equities, liquid alternatives and private market strategies, with a focus on process evaluation, portfolio construction quality and return drivers across market cycles.
He previously spent five years at Dimensional Fund Advisors in sales and analytical roles within the Financial Institutions Group and Financial Advisor Services, supporting the implementation and communication of systematic, evidence-based investment strategies to advisers and institutions.
A CFA Charterholder, Elliot holds a Master of International Economics and Finance from the University of Queensland and a Diplôme d’Ingénieur from École Centrale Lyon.
